Man made derogatory comment about Californians before firing gun at car: report

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A man was arrested and is facing charges for allegedly firing a shot into a car in a Las Vegas bar parking lot two months earlier.

According to an arrest report, the shooting followed a brief confrontation in the parking lot over the use of a handicapped parking spot by a Tesla driver with a California license plate.

Daniel Cullen Sanders, 38, is facing charges of attempted murder with the use of a deadly weapon, assault with a deadly weapon, and discharging a gun at a vehicle following his arrest on Dec. 17.

The shooting occurred on the evening of Oct. 19, 2024, in the parking lot of a bar located on S. Durango Drive near W. Warm Springs Road.

According to the report, when the victim left the bar and got into his Tesla, which was parked in a handicapped spot, a man, later identified as Sanders began “making remarks about him parking in the handicapped spot.” The man then noted the license plate was from California and made a derogatory comment about Californians.
