A FAMILY has been left in limbo after their car vanished from a hotel parking lot while they were on vacation.
Worse still, it later emerged their vehicle was involved in a crash and is now being held by police.
The family, from Scottsdale, Arizona, told 12News they drove to Las Vegas on December 20 and spent the night at the Circus Circus Hotel and Casino before flying to Canada for the holidays.
They left their vehicle parked at the hotel.
Melissa Goins, who was traveling with her wife Lauren Fontaine and their family, said, “I just had this moment of, this is Christmas Eve. Why is this happening?”
Their silver Hyundai Sonata, which Goins purchased in January 2024, was the family’s only vehicle and it meant a lot to them.
“We recently paid off our car. Our car was outright ours and we actually put some work into it,” Goins said.
“We put a brand new engine into the car and a brand new security system as well.”
The car’s security system was part of an anti-theft upgrade for Hyundais and Kias rolled out in light of thousands of thefts nationwide after a major security flaw was exposed on social media.
