Las Vegas and Surrounding Areas Issued Wind Advisory Amidst Upcoming Gusty Weekend Conditions

Las Vegas and surrounding regions are bracing for a gusty weekend as a low pressure system moves into the area, according to the National Weather Service Las Vegas. Winds are expected to continue through the afternoon and into the evening, prompting a Wind Advisory for Death Valley, the western Mojave Desert, and the Morongo Basin until 11:00 pm tonight. The same system is also forecasted to bring isolated showers and potential snow accumulations in the Eastern Sierra and Southern Great Basin.

These weather conditions are expected to be accompanied by cooler temperatures, which will remain below normal throughout the weekend before a warming trend sets in next week. The National Weather Service advises that small watercraft may face hazardous boating conditions due to southerly winds producing waves of 1 to 3 feet on Lake Mead and Lake Mohave, with a Lake Wind Advisory in effect from noon to 8:00 p.m. this evening. While wind and snow may be less intense elsewhere, a Winter Weather Advisory will be in effect for the Eastern Sierra starting at 7:00 a.m. today and continuing until 11:00 a.m. tomorrow, with some mountain areas expected to receive 3 to 6 inches of snow.
