LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — As water usage climbs across the valley, Southern Nevada Water Authority officials are reminding residents that mandatory summer watering restrictions take effect Thursday.
“The uptick in water use this year emphasizes the importance of following the seasonal water restrictions for grass irrigation, as well as the SNWA’s recommended schedule for drip-irrigated trees and plants,” Bronson Mack, SNWA public outreach manager, said.
The seasonal rules, which begin on May 1 and run through Aug. 31, prohibit sprinkler watering between 11 a.m. and 7 p.m. — the hottest and windiest part of the day when water is most likely to be lost to evaporation or blown away…
