LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Tony McCleery, a retired Metro motorcycle officer, knows firsthand the dangers posed by impaired drivers.
After serving 19 years with Metro, 16 of which were spent on a motorcycle enforcing traffic laws, McCleery’s career was abruptly ended by a drunk driver.
On April 14, 2011, McCleery was working an accident involving a 19-year-old woman, her second DUI with an accident, when he was struck by another impaired driver. “I didn’t see or hear the truck coming, and at 42 miles an hour, he hit me, took me my motorcycle 70 feet, plowed into the young lady’s car and threw me another 70 feet,” McCleery said…
