Las Vegas motorists should prepare for a series of overnight lane closures starting Monday as the Nevada Department of Transportation kicks off its plan to replace freeway signs across the city. In a detailed schedule released to the public, Nevada Department of Transportation highlighted the areas affected by these updates, including portions of I-11, U.S. 95, U.S. 93, I-215, and various local roads. Crews will work from 9:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. through Wednesday, May 21, focusing primarily on northbound I-15 from Oakey Blvd to the U.S. 95/US 93/I-11 interchange, infamously known as the “Spaghetti Bowl.”
The project’s schedule, which is weather-dependent and could change, restricts the contractor to a 5-mile work zone per night, aiming to limit the traffic impact on commuters as they traverse the nighttime roads, this part of the Nevada Department of Transportation’s strategy to ensure minimal disruption to the daily ebb and flow of the city’s vibrant lifeblood. With the Charleston Blvd on-ramp to northbound I-15 closed and overnight lane reductions in place, drivers are encouraged to take alternative routes or adjust their travel plans accordingly.
In addition to the lane restrictions early in the week, Nevada Department of Transportation also announced that on May 21, from 9:00 p.m. through the early morning hours of May 22, drivers should expect continued lane reductions on northbound I-15 leading up to the Spaghetti Bowl.
