Locals head to Lake Mead as temperatures climb across Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — As summer break kicks off and temperatures begin to climb past the 100-degree mark, Lake Mead is once again becoming the go-to spot for locals and visitors hoping to cool off.

The Las Vegas valley was under an extreme heat warning and many headed to the lake to escape the sweltering temperatures. From boating and swimming to paddle boarding and simply lounging on the shore, Lake Mead is buzzing with activity Saturday.

“I wasn’t expecting it to be this hot today and I looked at the news it was 108 degrees. It’s not too windy and wasn’t too choppy. It’s flat out here so we’re enjoying it,” Larry David said…
