Woman struck, killed in crosswalk, driver faces charges in northwest Las Vegas crash

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The driver of a pickup truck is accused of hitting and killing a woman who was attempting to cross a northwest valley road Thursday evening.

Las Vegas Metropolitan police said the 33-year-old woman was in a crosswalk on N. Rancho Drive near Decatur Boulevard when she was hit by a truck that didn’t stop for a red light.

The driver, Angel Franco Merida, 37, didn’t show signs of impairment and remained at the scene but was arrested for reckless driving, according to jail records…
