Thousands turn out to see balloons, floats in Summerlin’s 31st Patriotic Parade

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Americans across the country gathered to celebrate July 4th. In the valley, thousands poured into Summerlin for Southern Nevada’s largest Independence Day parade.

The free, annual Summerlin Council Patriotic Parade marked its 31st year with floats, live performances, and appearances by the Golden Knights and the Raiders. About 500 volunteers assisted with parade operations.

“They’ve been out here since 2:30 this morning blowing up those floats, getting everything prepared,” Matt Walker of Howard Hughes Corporation, the event’s sponsor, said.

This year’s parade featured more than 20 inflatable balloons, including the return of two crowd favorites — a 50-foot dinosaur and a 30-foot shark.  Additionally, there were a variety of floats, such as Wicked and Moana-themed ones, that were new additions this year…
