Las Vegas Teen in Critical Condition After Scooter Crash Near Maryland Parkway

A teenager is currently fighting for his life following a scooter crash in the central valley, as reported by the Las Vegas Metro Police Department. The accident, which occurred on Friday afternoon near east Sierra Vista Drive and west of South Maryland Parkway, involved a 16-year-old male on a scooter and a 2007 Chevrolet Tahoe. FOX 5 Vegas details that the youth was headed north when he allegedly attempted a trick that led to his fall directly into the vehicle’s path.

The collision took place around 4:20 p.m. as the teen rode down a parking lot ramp, potentially performing stunts before entering the roadway. The driver of the Tahoe, making a left turn, was unable to evade the fallen scooter rider, running over the juvenile. According to News3LV, the incident happened while the vehicle was in the left turn lane, approaching Maryland Parkway.

Emergency services transported the victim to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center’s Trauma Unit with life-threatening injuries. Early reports from the police indicate that impairment was not suspected on the part of the Tahoe’s driver, who cooperated with the investigative authorities at the scene.
