Las Vegas woman about to be sentenced for decapitating father of her children maintains innocence: ‘I don’t know how to fix this’

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A woman about to be sentenced for decapitating the father of her children and throwing his head in the trash unexpectedly revoked her plea Thursday in a heated and emotional hearing.

Henderson police arrested Devyn Michaels, 47, who also uses the name Tracee Tavarez, on Aug. 15, 2023, for the murder of 46-year-old Johnathon Willette. Police said Michaels killed and decapitated Willette at a Henderson home.

Last fall, Michaels pleaded guilty to a second-degree murder charge. As part of the deal, she would be eligible for parole after serving 15 years in prison. As in all plea deals, sentencing is at the judge’s discretion. Michaels later attempted to revoke her plea, but Clark County District Court Judge Tierra Jones determined Michaels entered it “voluntarily, knowingly and intelligently,” documents said…
