Las Vegas police officer arrested for DUI, speeding 40 mph over speed limit

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A police officer is facing eight charges, including DUI, according to a news release from the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department.

Officer Zachary Louis was arrested by Nevada State Police on Wednesday, July 16, on the following charges:

  • 1 felony count of driver disobeying peace officer, endangering other person/property
  • 1 count of DUI, 1st offense
  • 1 count of speeding (41+ mph over speed limit)
  • 1 count of reckless driving
  • 1 count of failing to yield to an emergency vehicle
  • 1 count of failure to maintain lane or improper lane change
  • 1 count of no proof of insurance
  • 1 count of operating an unregistered vehicle

Court records show Louis is not currently in the Clark County Detention Center. He was released on Thursday with no bail posted.

Police said Louis was employed with Metro in 2020. He is currently on suspension of police powers with pay pending further investigation. He is currently assigned to the Community Safety Division in the Northwest Area Command…
