Nevada Task Force continues to assist flood recovery operations in Texas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) – It’s been over one week since the Nevada Task Force 1 (NV-TF1) left Las Vegas to assist with search and rescue and recovery operations in flood-ravaged parts of Texas.

Kerr County is where catastrophic flooding occurred over the July 4 weekend. NV-TF1 deployed to Texas on July 8.

Since then, NVTF-1 continues to do search efforts in creeks and along shores in Kerr County.

The state of Texas continues to receive additional information concerning new areas that need to be searched, and with the dropping of the water levels, those areas can now be searched.

Not all 47 members of NV-TF1 can assist with search and rescue. Members of the logistics team ensure timely food delivery and coordinate laundry runs. Truck drivers assist with hauling and logistics. The team’s mechanic keeps the trucks on the road and the equipment running.  Plans and technical specialists manage and organize data to help local agencies determine where they need to search next and what was at a location when it was searched.  The medical team is on hand daily, both in the field and at the base, to keep the team healthy and mission-ready.
