A Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department officer was arrested last Wednesday on multiple charges, including DUI and reckless driving. Officer Zachary David Louis was taken into custody after leading a Nevada Highway Patrol trooper on a high-speed chase.
A state trooper spotted a white Dodge Ram pickup swerving on the southbound 215 Beltway near Cheyenne Avenue. The vehicle, driven by Louis, had expired registration and no listed insurance. When the trooper tried to stop the truck, Louis exited the freeway and sped off, reaching speeds of up to 85 mph in a 35 mph zone, according to News 3 Las Vegas.

A state trooper reported that “the vehicle presented a clear and immediate safety threat to the rest of the motoring and pedestrian public by the reckless manner in which it was driving.” The chase ended at Buckskin Avenue and Shady Timber Street, where Louis stopped, threw his keys out the window, and surrendered.
