Seven Magic Mountains isn’t moving from Las Vegas

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The colorful rock sculpture display, known as Seven Magic Mountains, will not move to northern Nevada, as planned.

Seven Magic Mountains will stay at its current location, south of the Las Vegas Strip, until its lease with the Bureau of Land Management (BLM) expires in December 2026, according to the Nevada Museum of Art, which owns the artwork.

In Aug. 2024, the Washoe County Board of Commissioners voted in favor of allocating money to have the art installation moved to Washoe County. However, the museum, along with the artist, Ugo Rondinone, has since decided it would be better to keep Seven Magic Mountains in southern Nevada.

Could the Seven Magic Mountains be moved from Las Vegas desert?

The art installation was built in 2016, inspired by the neon lights of Las Vegas. It attracts around 325,000 visitors a year, according to the museum.
