Las Vegas residents witnessed plumes of smoke as a three-alarm fire swept through the University Shopping Center on Maryland Parkway, just east of the iconic Strip, near the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Clark County Nevada’s social media lauded the efforts by the Clark County Fire Department and partners in tackling the significant blaze which resulted in extensive damage to the complex.
While the cause of the fire has yet to be determined, the inferno’s aftermath has posed challenges to the emergency services, making it currently impossible for them to thoroughly search the premises and the affected U.S. Post Office business was particularly noted, though the authorities don’t believe other businesses were occupied at the time of the fire, the official efforts carry on to ensure the safety and account for all potential occupants. According to a follow-up social media update by Clark County Nevada, the damage sustained by the building has been significant enough to prevent a complete search operation for any victims that might have been caught in the blaze.
Due to the damage to the building, CCFD has not been able to complete a search for victims. CCFD does not currently have any reason to believe any of the businesses other than a U.S. Post Office were occupied, but efforts are continuing to make sure that is the case. https://t.co/vcyv3s2n7e
