LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The cases of prison inmates—originally announced by the Nevada Department of Corrections merely as deaths—are now part of separate homicide investigations, the 8 News Now Investigators have learned.
The inmates were killed 10 days apart inside High Desert State Prison outside of Las Vegas.
Jordan Canteberry, 34, died on July 26, according to the department. He began serving a 12-to-30-month sentence for robbery and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon in June, according to records. His robbery charge stemmed from a December 2024 robbery, records show. Canteberry agreed to a plea deal in a second case after he was initially charged with three gun crimes.
Jacob Herman, 35, died on July 16, according to the department. Herman was serving a 12-to-36-month sentence for larceny from a person. Herman was initially charged with robbery, agreed to a plea deal, and received a suspended sentence in Clark County, according to court records.
