‘Ghost town’ that thousands choose over Vegas where locals ‘love’ visitors

While Las Vegas remains a hotspot for tourists, with more than 40 million visitors every year, an unlikely destination in the shadow of the Strip’s dazzling lights has also become popular.

The tiny town of Goodsprings offers a very different attraction, and despite having a mere population of around 200, sees an influx of thousands of visitors at least once annually. Tucked at the foot of the Spring Mountains in the Nevada desert, Goodsprings was once a bustling mining hub – but is now a shadow of its former self, with some calling it a ‘ghost town’ that ‘time forgot’.

In its heyday in the early 1900s, it housed 800 residents and boasted amenities like a hospital, hotels, and a school – which still operates today, albeit with only two students enrolled. But as the ore deposits in the Goodsprings mines dwindled, so did its populace…
