LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The family of the retired California police chief killed in a hit-and-run two years ago has filed a wrongful death lawsuit against the two young men accused in the crime and the company that manufactured the car that prosecutors say they stole.
Jesus Ayala, 19; and Jzamir Keys, 18, are accused of intentionally ramming into Andreas “Andy” Probst, 64, killing him on Aug. 14, 2023. Probst was riding a bicycle in a marked lane near Tenaya Way and Centennial Parkway in the northwest Las Vegas valley. Ayala was driving a stolen Hyundai Elantra with Keys sitting in the passenger seat, prosecutors said.
It does not appear the two men, who were 18 and 16 at the time, respectively, knew Probst’s former job…
