LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Beating the summer heat continues across the Las Vegas valley, and for our four-legged friends, an initiative is focusing its efforts to give them a “doggy daycation,” with the help of the community.
The Animal Foundation (TAF) launched its Foster Field Trip Summer Sendoff Challenge, a month-long effort to send shelter dogs on 500 field trips during the month of August with the help of community members.
The field trips are a chance to help dogs de-stress with short adventures, whether its a walk to Mt. Charleston, relaxing in the AC at your home, or enjoying a meal at a dog-friendly patio “doggy daycations” can give a shelter dog a break from their kennel and also help them find a home.
How to join the challenge
- Complete a foster field trip application
- Visit the foster window in the adoption center to pick up a dog
- Head out on an adventure
- Take photos and tag TAF to help foster dogs to help them find a home
To beat the summer heat, The Animal Foundation has expanded its field trip hours in August. Dogs are available for pickup starting at 8:00 a.m. seven days a week, giving fosters time to enjoy the cooler part of the day…
