LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The FBI has fired the former head of the Las Vegas field office weeks after department leaders reassigned him to a new post, according to Spencer Evans’ attorney.
Evans, who held the title of special agent in charge, left the Las Vegas office in July, the 8 News Now Investigators reported that month, adding that the department had reassigned him to a leadership job in Alabama.
“Today the FBI and Department of Justice further betrayed law enforcement and all ethical ideals that govern our civil service system,” attorney Mark Zaid said in a statement. “Special Agent in Charge of the Las Vegas Field Office Spencer Evans, a 21-year veteran with an unblemished record, was unlawfully fired under a false pretense of constitutional authority. All routine internal due process protections for a member of the Senior Executive were disregarded.”…
