Demolition of 50-year-old pedestrian bridge to cause lane closures in central Las Vegas valley

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The demolition of a 50-year-old pedestrian bridge in the central Las Vegas valley is set to cause lane closures lasting throughout the week.

Starting Sunday night, the lane closures will impact traffic on Maryland Parkway, from Desert Inn Road to the main entrance of Sunrise Hospital. Clark County warned commuters that they can expect major slowdowns due to the demolition.

“It wasn’t being used that much. There was a problem with the homeless being up there, so just a lot of reasons,” said Clark County Commissioner Tick Segerblom, District E. “You hate to destroy something but the truth is, it was no longer valuable.”…
