Nevada pedestrian death rates among highest in country

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Nevada had one of the highest pedestrian fatality rates in the country in 2024, data shows. But preliminary 2025 data shows those numbers could go down.

In 2024, drivers hit and killed 7,148 people walking in the United States, according to the Governors Highway Safety Association. That number is enough to fill more than 30 Boeing 737 jets at maximum capacity.

Overall, that’s a 4.3% decrease from 2023, but it’s still nearly 20% higher than the 2016 numbers (5,997 pedestrian deaths), data shows…
