Extreme heat warnings and advisories have been issued for more than 80 million people across the US Southwest, with triple-digit temperatures set to bake several states from Wednesday through the weekend.
Forecasters reported warm, descending air over Arizona, Utah, Colorado, and New Mexico that’s expected to scorch the region through the weekend.
“An anomalously strong ridge of high pressure centered over the Four Corners states will lead to a significant heat wave,” said the National Weather Service on Tuesday.
