Las Vegas is about to launch its new Civic Center and Carolyn G. Goodman Plaza with a series of events kicking off on September 4, officials announced. In a statement made by the City of Las Vegas, Mayor Shelley Berkley, alongside Councilwoman Olivia Diaz, will inaugurate the $190 million development at 525 S. Main St., carving a new chapter for the city’s architectural landscape.
The project features a duo of office buildings, the larger stretching five stories high and spanning 176,982 square feet, the smaller enclosing 72,223 square feet over four floors. CORE Construction laid the foundational work, while LGA Architecture, in collaboration with BNIM, orchestrated its design; two pads poised for future restaurants and an art gallery also mark the site’s map. The civic heartbeat of Las Vegas invigorates with a free concert by Jessica Manalo, the city’s own “The Voice” contender, on September 4, now scheduled for a 5:30 p.m. start to allow the community to flock in unity under her stirring melodies at Goodman Plaza, according to the city’s announcement.
Following the musical inauguration, the plaza will play host to ‘Paige and The Overtones’ on September 18, a local group fronted by Paige Overton, known for her alternative country tunes, and a ‘Meet the Artists’ event on September 19, opening dialogue on the new public artworks enriched within the Civic Center’s embrace. Goodman Plaza will hit its stride on September 20 with its Grand Opening Celebration, revealing a tapestry of live music, food vendors, and a kids zone.
