Las Vegas woman faces towed car due to DMV closure

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Yasmin Armstrong, a Las Vegas resident, is grappling with unexpected financial strain after her car was towed over the holiday weekend due to an expired registration. Armstrong said she had scheduled an appointment with the DMV before her registration expired, but a statewide cyberattack delayed her appointment, leading to her car being towed.

“To wake up in the morning, 5 o’clock in the morning, and realize your car is not there, that I had to call an Uber, hopefully hoping the Uber gets there in time to get me here on time. So I would not, of course, be late for work,” Armstrong said.

Her Chevy HHR, essential for her and her family, was towed because it lacked current registration. Armstrong explained that her HOA required updated registration information, and without it, they took action. Her permit expired on August 29, and the car was towed on September 1, just days later…
