New COVID vaccine coming to Las Vegas valley soon

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The Southern Nevada Health District is no longer offering the previously approved COVID-19 vaccine after announcing on Wednesday that people could still get it.

A news release from the health district on Thursday said it had received updated guidance that the older vaccine should no longer be used because a 2025-2026 vaccine is becoming available.

This comes at a time when the presence of COVID has reached a high level in the county’s wastewater.

A survey of wastewater in the Clark County Flamingo Water Reclamation District Plant shows the concentration levels of COVID in the community were high in June, July, and August.
