LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Clear skies and breezy winds start our Wednesday, as an area of low pressure moves into Nevada.
- Stronger southwest winds today
- Wind Alerts east of Las Vegas
- Cooler temps before the weekend
- Warmer mid-to-upper 90s return next week
A cold front is also moving through Southern Nevada — the first cold front since before summer began — and that will help temps slide about five degrees today and even more so before the weekend. Mornings will cool to the 60s starting tomorrow, with highs that may not make it to 90 degrees on Thursday and Friday.
The disturbance moving inland from the West Coast has reached Nevada and will continue heading east into the Great Basin today. The gusty winds ahead of it have reached 30 mph at Harry Reid International Airport and in the Spring Mountains. Widespread breezy to gusty winds are expected throughout the day as a pre-season cold front travels through the area with the low pressure. While southerly gusts in the Las Vegas valley will get up to 30 mph, stronger wind speeds at 45 mph or higher will affect the Lake Mead area and northwest Arizona.
- Wind Advisory for the Colorado River valley, including Lakes Mead and Mohave, and for Mohave County, AZ (Kingman area) from 10 a.m. until 7 p.m.
The front will affect our temperatures with a dip to the upper 80s to near 90 for several days before rebounding to the low 90s this weekend and warmer mid-to-upper 90s again next week. Mornings will cool to the 60s for many valley neighborhoods Thursday, Friday, and Saturday mornings…
