LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — The “Shine a Light” Foundation is rallying the community to take action against deadly drug overdoses through its annual event, “Narcan at Night.” Now in its third year, the event was initiated in 2023 by the national organization Mobilize Recovery as a “Day of Service” to engage communities.
Robert Banghart, Vice President of Shine a Light and Director of Community Engagement at Crossroads, and Krista Hales, an event organizer and harm reduction leader, highlighted the event’s growth. In 2023, the event featured three teams and 40 volunteers. By 2024, participation increased to six teams and 140 volunteers. As of now, the 2025 event is set to include 15 teams with 447 volunteers.
The event is a collaborative effort involving numerous community partners who contribute their time to the planning and execution. On the day of the event, volunteers will gather at SUBSTANCE in Neonopolis, which has donated its space, at 5:00 p.m. A meeting will follow at 5:30 p.m., with team and group photos. At 6:00 p.m., teams will disperse to distribute kits across various areas, including the Las Vegas Strip, Fremont Street, Downtown Las Vegas, UNLV/Maryland Parkway area, Henderson/Water Street, and Boulder Highway…
