LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Memorable movies starring Robert Redford are on film buffs’ minds today with his passing at age 89, and two movies with Las Vegas connections are among those titles.
“Indecent Proposal” and “The Electric Horseman” weren’t Redford’s signature roles, but they were big when they hit the theaters. He also produced “The Mustang,” a film shot in Carson City and released just six years ago.
In its day, the scandalous “Indecent Proposal” had everyone talking about love and money. Redford played a billionaire who approaches a down-on-their-luck couple in Las Vegas with an offer of $1 million to sleep with the wife, played by Demi Moore. When the movie was released in 1993, Redford was 57; Moore was 30.
Would you? That was the question everyone was asking. And Las Vegas was the backdrop. Moore and Woody Harrelson had the bright idea they could win enough to pay their mortgage. Again … would you?
