‘Cash tips’ gets clarity, casino jobs included as ‘No Taxes on Tips’ rules released

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — If someone flips you a casino chip as a tip, it will qualify as a deductible tip under new federal rules for the “No Taxes on Tips” program, according to U.S. Treasury officials.

The definition of “cash tips” covers a wide range, including debit and credit cards, checks, mobile payment methods. With the uncertainty emanating from executive orders and other policies that have taken months to clarify, a tight definition of cash could have been a killer for the hospitality industry in Las Vegas.
