LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The Southern Nevada Water Authority has announced increased cash incentives for its water-saving landscaping program for single-family property owners.
According to a news release, the rebate will increase to $5 per square foot and applies when grass is converted to “water-efficient, drip-irrigated plants and trees.” The incentive applies to up to 10,000 square feet, with $2.50 rebated per square foot above that threshold.
“Because landscape irrigation accounts for about 60 percent of Southern Nevada’s overall water use, converting grass to water-efficient landscapes is vital as the community continues to face federally mandated reductions in the amount of water it can draw annually from Lake Mead, the source of 90 percent of our supply,” the news release said…
