Trailblazing Henderson banker, UNLV supporter dies days before 98th birthday

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Selma Bartlett, a pioneering businesswoman, philanthropist, and influential figure in Henderson’s growth, passed away earlier this week.

Bartlett passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, just days before her 98th birthday. She is remembered as one of Nevada’s first female bank officers and is widely credited with helping transform Henderson from a small factory town into a thriving city through decades of work in banking and community development, according to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas.

Over the decades, Bartlett facilitated millions of dollars in loans for real estate projects, medical practices, and small business start-ups, fueling the city’s rapid growth through the 1950s and 1960s, UNLV said…
