Last Friday night, another tragic incident unfolded at the intersection of E. Charleston Boulevard and S. Casino Center Boulevard when a motorcycle and a vehicle collided fatally, marking the 118th traffic-related death within the jurisdiction of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department for the year. According to the department’s report, a Mitsubishi Outlander, driven by 35-year-old Janelle Preston of Las Vegas, was executing a left turn onto S. Casino Center Boulevard. Concurrently, a 2003 Harley-Davidson Dyna Super Glide, operated by a 29-year-old male whose name has been withheld pending notification, was traveling west along E. Charleston Boulevard.
The crash occurred at approximately 9:26 p.m. when the motorcycle collided with the passenger side of the Outlander. Witness statements and on-scene evidence were used to piece together the moments leading to the devastating event. The motorcyclist, as well as Steve Sellers, a 38-year-old passenger in the Mitsubishi, were transported to UMC Trauma to receive urgent medical care. Despite the swift response of medical personnel, the injuries sustained by the motorcyclist proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead at the hospital.
