Pedestrian Fatality in Las Vegas Marks City’s 126th Traffic-Related Death This Year

In a tragic incident that adds to a growing tally of traffic-related deaths, the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department reported a collision between a vehicle and a pedestrian that occurred on October 10th, leading to the death of the pedestrian. According to the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department news release, the accident took place early in the morning at the intersection of Boulder Highway and Whitney Avenue.

The incident involved a northbound 2016 Kia Optima, which was traveling in the rightmost lane when it failed to stop for the pedestrian crossing lights. The car, driven by 31-year-old Michael Turski of Las Vegas, struck the 47-year-old female pedestrian as she was crossing inside a marked crosswalk. The emergency response team promptly transported the victim to the trauma center at Sunrise Hospital, where she sadly succumbed to her injuries. This event marks the 126th traffic-related fatality in the Las Vegas area this year alone; a somber statistic reflecting an ongoing public safety crisis.

The driver, Turski, reportedly did not sustain any injuries from the incident.
