New effort to provide more drug overdose kits on Las Vegas valley streets

LAS VEGAS (FOX5) — The recent “Narcan at Night” drug event got around 10,000 overdose drugs kits into the hands of people around the Las Vegas valley.

Narcan, or Naloxone, can reverse an opioid overdose. The nonprofit Shine A Light organized assembling the kits. Then, more than 500 volunteers helped distribute them around the valley for free. The kits also included test strips to detect Fentanyl and Xylazine in any pills or powder.

FOX5 has learned there is now an effort to make “Narcan at Night” a nonprofit. Shine A Light officials say that it will help with fundraising for more Narcan giveaways, which might be larger than this year’s event…
