The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department (LVMPD) is gearing up to officially deploy its new fleet of Tesla Cybertrucks for patrol duty along the world-famous Las Vegas Strip and surrounding areas.
The department will roll out 10 customized Cybertrucks, donated earlier this year by venture capitalist Ben Horowitz and his wife Felicia. The all-electric trucks were upfitted by California-based company UP.FIT — a division of Unplugged Performance — which specializes in converting Teslas for fleet and emergency use. Each vehicle features reinforced armor, bullet-resistant protection, and advanced onboard technology to improve officer safety and operational effectiveness.
“We want these things because the cops inside will be safe no matter what. These stop bullets. They are also a tremendous recruitment tool for us,” said LVMPD Sheriff Kevin McMahill.
