Two sentenced in $250K pandemic unemployment fraud scheme

Two people have been sentenced to federal prison for stealing more than $250,000 in COVID-era unemployment benefits meant for New Yorkers.

Jodi Drygula of Amsterdam, NY, and Anthony Camou of Las Vegas were each sentenced to 30 months for conspiracy and mail fraud, according to the New York State Inspector General’s Office.

The pair submitted false claims to New York’s Department of Labor using stolen identities between July 2020 and September 2021. Investigators say the fraud targeted emergency relief programs meant to help people during the pandemic…
