Experts call for stricter enforcement of traffic laws amid rising accidents near schools

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A recent incident involving a student being struck by a car while crossing a street near Centennial High School has sparked concerns among parents and residents about pedestrian and e-rider safety in the area.

Candice Meyers, a longtime Clark County School District parent, expressed her frustration over the lack of attention to crosswalk safety. “I feel like we do not care about kids in this city because we are not slowing down. We are not taking crosswalks seriously,” Meyers said.

The collision occurred around 7 a.m. near Hualapai Way, where a girl on an e-scooter was hit by a car that bypassed stopped vehicles. The girl sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and the driver remained at the scene, according to police…
