LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Hundreds of people are seeking refuge at the Las Vegas Rescue Mission, where the intake process is providing a lifeline for those looking to start anew.
Ashley Remaley, who oversees the shelter’s intact families program, explained the procedure: “This is one of the gates they come through, so they start this way and then line up right here.” Before entering, individuals undergo a breathalyzer test and a bag search, as the property is drug and alcohol-free. “We just want to make sure everybody is medically ok to be in the shelter because we don’t have medical overnight staying at the shelter with us,” Remaley said.
The mission offers additional detox services, including placement at a detox center, to ensure no one is left intoxicated on the streets…
