Las Vegas mother seeks justice two years after son’s tragic beating death near high school

LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — A Las Vegas mother is renewing her call for accountability nearly two years after her 17-year-old son was beaten by a group of teenagers near a local campus and later died from his injuries.

Jonathan Lewis was attacked in a mob-style beating across the street from Rancho High School in an alley on Nov. 1, 2023, after what Las Vegas Metropolitan Police described as a dispute over a pair of wireless headphones and possibly a vape pen. Surveillance and cellphone video obtained by News 3 showed several teenagers punching, kicking, and stomping Lewis until he lost consciousness. He was hospitalized and died a week later.
