LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A 9-year-old child with cerebral palsy received an all-expenses-paid trip to the Las Vegas Formula 1 Grand Prix due to viral posts on social media.
Shriners Children’s in Salt Lake City posted a video on social media of 9-year-old Willa’s wheelchair being transformed into an F1 race car for Halloween in 2024. This led to her favorite driver, Oscar Piastri, and the McLaren F1 team to send her an autographed helmet to Willa, resulting in another viral social post.
Willa’s luck didn’t end there. The Las Vegas Grand Prix surprised her and her parents with tickets to the race and hotel accommodations.
“Willa is driven, passionate, and unstoppable. She truly embodies the spirit of Formula 1,” said Jeremy Walters, community engagement director for F1 Las Vegas Grand Prix. “Her journey as a fan is nothing short of inspiring, and we can’t wait to share the excitement of the Las Vegas Grand Prix with her and her family.”…
