Lake Las Vegas residents just shot down a round-the-clock grocery and gas station plan before it ever reached a final vote, and they did it the old-fashioned way: by showing up angry and in numbers.
The proposed Emerald Marketplace would have brought an upscale market, a restaurant, fuel pumps and EV charging to a corner near the lake. The project, planned for the intersection of Galleria Drive and Lake Las Vegas Parkway, was pulled this week by the developer after a heated community meeting, as reported by FOX5 Las Vegas.
The plan had already cleared the Henderson Planning Commission, but it ran into a wall of neighborhood opposition once word got out. About 100 people turned up at the meeting, and nearly all of them opposed the project…
