LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The man shot by police during an alleged armed carjacking in the central valley is facing charges, according to court records.
Wade David Griffith, 38, is facing the following charges:
- 2 counts of robbery with the use of a deadly weapon
- 2 counts of battery with the use of a deadly weapon against an officer
- 2 counts of resisting a public officer with the use of a deadly weapon
Las Vegas Metropolitan police units responded around 12:25 p.m. on Sunday to an apartment complex near West Harmon Avenue and South Decatur Boulevard to a report of an armed carjacking. Police said Griffith, armed with a knife, was attempting to carjack a victim.

When officers attempted to take Griffith into custody, a physical confrontation occurred between two officers and Griffith, who pulled out what officers said was a knife. One of the officers fired a shot and hit him.

Police said Griffith was taken to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition. He is due to make an initial court appearance on Monday, but that will likely be delayed.
