LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — A Henderson city councilwoman’s 41 phone calls to police in a year and police-worn body camera video of an early-morning run-in with uniformed officers help to portray a politician who seems to place as much of an emphasis on her neighborhood watch as she does her elected office, a months-long 8 News Now Investigation reveals.
Monica Larson, councilwoman of Henderson’s Ward 2, called 911 once between Oct. 2024 and Oct. 2025 when she was in a car accident. Demonstrably agitated at the outset of the call, Larson returned to calm and explained the nature of her emergency – a fender bender at the exit ramp of Interstate 215 and Valle Verde Drive in Henderson.

In 40 other calls during that time period, to the recorded 311 non-emergency line, Larson calls dispatchers to discuss her neighborhood watch patrols, leaking water tanks at an HOA, a lost girl, calls on behalf of her neighbors, and a series of phone calls inquiring about rumors and reports of police activity in or around her neighborhood.
Larson was elected to her position on the city council in November 2024. She ran on a platform that emphasized public safety.
