K9 officer gets needed operation at Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — K9 Brutus, a Belgian Malinois who has served the Mohave County Sheriff’s Office since 2017, is at home recovering after his left front leg was amputated in Las Vegas.

Photos of Brutus posted Tuesday on Facebook show him at home in the care of his handler, MCSO Deputy Felish.

The operation, performed at the Las Vegas Veterinary Specialty Center on Monday, has relieved the pain caused by a tumor that caused extensive nerve damage in his shoulder. Doctors called it a successful surgery, but they believe the tumor has grown into the dog’s spinal cavity…
