2 rescued after getting stuck canyoneering at Red Rock Canyon

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Two people were rescued at Red Rock Canyon Friday morning after they got stuck canyoneering.

Around 10 p.m. Thursday, LVMPD received a report from a friend out of state of an overdue party of two who were canyoneering in the area of First Creek. LVMPD Search and Rescue attempted to contact the pair to check on their status however, they were unsuccessful initially due to poor reception in the Red Rock area, LVMPDSAR said in a post on social media.

Patrol units found their vehicle shortly after at a trailhead with a note saying they were expected to return by midnight, making them overdue at that point.

SAR learned that they planned to run the canyon “Old Bill.” SAR was able to contact one of the people via text and determined that they were okay, but running behind due to making a longer approach than planned…
