Annual DUI blitz results in 49 arrests, 38 DUI-related

LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — The results are in after a DUI blitz was held Saturday night, and the numbers show exactly why these operations matter.

The second annual Sergeant Abbate and Trooper Felix DUI Blitz was held on Nov. 29 and brought together agencies with one goal: getting impaired drivers off the road.

“Tomorrow marks the two-year anniversary that we lost Sergeant Abbate and Trooper Felix, and not a day goes by where we don’t think of them and their family,” Major Kevin Honea with Nevada Highway Patrol said.

Officers made 818 traffic stops during the operation, according to the Nevada State Police.Of those:

  • 414 citations were issued
  • 49 arrests were made
  • 38 of those arrests were DUI-related

During last year’s inaugural blitz, NHP conducted more than 500 traffic stops statewide, leading to 32 DUI arrests.
