LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — Another Henderson Police Department volunteer is suing the city and its manager for allegedly retaliating against him for publicly criticizing the Henderson mayor and city council, according to documents obtained by the 8 News Now Investigators.
Paul Padda’s law firm filed Ervin Jeffery Crampton’s federal lawsuit on Dec. 2 in Nevada’s District Court. It claims Crampton lost his volunteer job after he criticized Henderson Mayor Michelle Romero and City Manager Stephanie Garcia-Vause over the firing of former Police Chief Hollie Chadwick.

The suit claims Crampton’s First Amendment right to speak at a public meeting was violated. It says Garcia-Vause later retaliated by causing an “investigation into his Political Action Committee, falsely stating to HPD officers that [Crampton] was under investigation for fraud, and cancelling a community service award that [Crampton] had been scheduled to receive for his meritorious service to the community.”
