LAS VEGAS (KLAS) — One job sector is outpacing inflation in Clark County – and it might not be the industry you expect.
Hospitality is often seen as the heart of the Las Vegas job market. But as tourism declines, one industry is quietly becoming the valley’s fastest-growing – and highest paying despite national trends.

“At the U.S. level, we see that for leisure and hospitality, for professional business services, and for financial activities, we see that those wages have been expanding faster than inflation since the pandemic,” Andrew Woods, Director of the Center for Business and Economic Research at UNLV, said. “Here in Clark County, it’s a little bit different. Information technology is up 43% since the pandemic in terms of real wage growth.”
Woods said real wage growth, meaning your purchasing power after inflation, has looked very different in Southern Nevada compared to the rest of the country. And despite big tech layoffs nationwide, information technology wages here are far outpacing other local industries…
